The Problem:

Your plane has been taxiing on the runway for what feels like hours, and you can’t find your headphones anywhere. They’ve probably slipped to the very bottom of your bag (again) and reaching them will require unpacking the contents of your entire bag onto your lap while trying to respect the space of the pour soul in the middle seat next to you. The couple seated behind you continues to argue and you would do anything to instead be listening to your favorite podcast right now.

You curse the bottomless pit that is your bag and vow to dial in your organization game before your next flight.

The Move:

If this sounds like you —whether on a plane or just digging through your purse trying to find your dental insurance card in the lobby of your dentist’s office— let’s explore some options for bags that have built-in functionality designed to keep you organized.

And I should note that I strive to make this corner of the internet less shop-y and more focused on ideas/tactics. This is, after all, a newsletter about life organization and very few of us need more. freaking. things. But occasionally, there are standout items that outweigh their costs in terms of the organizational benefits that they provide me, and this is one of those instances.

Case in point: I’ve been traveling this week for work and the thought, “I love this backpack” has consciously entered my mind about 10 different times. I feel like it’s not normal to love a backpack? So I figured I’d share here in case useful to others.

For background, I positively *nerd out* about stuff like this. I’ve become somewhat of a minimalist in recent years and do way too much research evaluating the functionality of items, such as bags, before I buy them. So anything outlined here is something that I personally own, have thoroughly vetted, and has punched above its weight in terms of utility.

Okay, let’s get into it!
