Issue #7: Assembling a Cold Caddy
Making cold and flu season the tiniest bit less miserable (+ a little more organized)
The Problem:
A cold has inevitably taken you down. Your nightstand is covered in tissues, Netflix has just asked if you’re still watching, and you’ve promised yourself that you will never again take for granted the ability to breathe through both nostrils at the same time.
The mere idea of getting out of bed to find cough drops, medicine, or anything out of arm’s reach feels insurmountable.
The Move:
Before the next cold hits, we’re going to assemble a cold caddy.
What is a cold caddy? It’s a small basket or container in which you corral your cold and flu essentials in one, easily portable spot. It’s like a little gift to help nurture your future, under-the-weather self, which you can tote from the couch to your bed and back.
Any items that you or your family tend to reach for or find comfort in when sick are great to include. Some ideas to get you started:
A box of tissues
A heating pad
A thermometer
An eye mask for achieving an elusive, daytime nap
Lip balm/hydrating ointment
A packet of electrolyte drink mix
Cough drops*
Medicine*
☆ Extra Credit:
The next time you finish a box of tissues, add the empty box to your cold caddy so you have a spot to collect used tissues the next time you’re sick. But if you instead prefer the drama of tissues strewn all over your general vicinity to visually convey the extent of your malaise, I get that.
*Note: If you have pets or tiny humans who tend to get into everything *raises hand,* it might be best to keep medicine and cough drops in a secured spot that is out of reach, just to be safe.
Sending you healthy vibes!
