What is “Your Type A Friend” and why should I subscribe?

Your Type A Friend is an email newsletter bringing you weekly tips and life hacks from your most organized friend.

And we’re not re-organizing kitchen drawers here. We’re talking holistic, whole-life organization that meets you where you are and measurably improves your day-to-day.

Think of it as your organizational personal trainer (if your personal trainer inspired you to finally clear out the center console of your car and slapped the toasted sesame oil out of your hand at the grocery store before you came home to realize you had accidentally purchased your third bottle). But unlike a workout, you don’t need a special bra for this and you’ll never want to skip a session.

Whether you’re Type A, B or Z, I’m glad you’re here and this is very much a place for you!

In each newsletter, you can expect:

  • The Problem: a relatable, everyday issue or nuisance that is adding friction or stress to your life

  • The Move: a creative solution that untangles the problem once and for all, ranging from helpful tidbits to ideas that will leave you asking, “did we just fix my whole life?

  • Sample topics covered include:

    • How to FINALLY make packing for trips less of a sh*tshow

    • How a weekly life admin meeting will transform your life (+ your relationships)

    • The quickest, most foolproof comfort meal to bring to a friend (zero cooking or food delivery service required)

    • The definitive best bags for getting (and staying!) organized in your day-to-day

    • How to passively organize travel recs so that the itinerary for your next trip literally writes itself before you even choose your destination

    • The best way to organize important documents like social security cards, passports, etc.

    • What a reverse grocery list is and whether it’s for you

  • Lift-Level Meter: a rating for how much effort is required to complete that week’s move— ranging from “fairly chill” to “borderline unhinged” ;-)

And if you’re thirsty for a gold star, seek therapy to discuss your perfectionist tendencies you’ll also get occasional bonus opportunities for extra credit via an idea for how you can further up-level that week’s move.

So let’s do this! Let’s get our sh*t together while having some fun in the process.

My Qualifications

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been affectionately referred to as the Type A one in my friend groups.

Recently, after receiving the above text from a friend, I wondered, “Could the random, highly-specific organizational knowledge that I’ve been amassing my whole life potentially benefit and be of interest to others?”

And here we are! Your Type A Friend extends my advice beyond Saturday morning coffee catch-ups with friends and beyond the group text thread directly into your inbox.

The ideas outlined here have been researched, tested, and honed in my own life through years of organizational trial and error. If they help your life to run even a touch more smoothly, then this effort has been meaningful to me!

Stay up-to-date

Once you subscribe, each new edition of the newsletter goes straight to your inbox. You’ll also have access to the full archive of past issues.

Where else can I find you?

Your Type A Friend is not on social media, so the best place to find me is here on Substack. You’ve come to the right place!

Is your life perfectly put together?

No! And and that’s not the goal. As a wise, faux-distressed sign at Homegoods once taught me, “Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful.”

But I believe that the organizational systems in your life can and should be working FOR you. So if you’re encountering frustrations in your day-to-day that could be alleviated through getting more organized, let’s fix that together.
